Our Dogs From The Beginning
All of the dogs listed below except Kailli and Weed, are Tumbleweed bred Old English Sheepdogs. Weed was the “foundation” and all go back to her.
Kaillie was my first sheepdog love. Boy, we both learnt so much from each other. I learnt the silliness and total devotion from only a sheepdog. She also taught me crates are not cruel and that she had complete control over me.
My Weed!! So sweet and always wanting to please. Weed introduced me to dog shows, grooming for them and breeding. She was a fantastic momma and produced three litters. She was mom to Bluecaleb's Born Country Dillon, multi Best in Show. He as well as other of her offspring continued her legacy and began the foundation for "Tumbleweed OES".
Dakota was Weed's daughter from her second litter. Dakota loved life and was eager to please. She didn't love dog shows, but obtained her Canadian championship. Dakota didn't enjoy travel and was more of a home body, so after she obtained her championship and had 2 litters she went to live with my parents for the rest of her life.
Dakota's daughter Monika! So much to say about Monika... She was a little spitfire! Monika made friends wherever she went, full of life! Monika was an amazing mom, produced lovely puppies and so many champions in both Canada and the US. As a puppy and young dog she was always exploring and finding ways to challenge me. So many Monika stories. She LOVED going to dog shows and quickly became a Canadian and American champion. Her greatest win was winning Best Veteran and Award of Merit at the American Old English Sheepdog National Specialty in 2010 at 12 years of age. Everyone was clapping and cheering her on while she ran around with a smile on her face!
Here is a link on YouTube to that show:
Comet was Monika's son! Man did he inherit his mom's love of life and being a show dog!! Comet quickly became a Canadian Champion and soon after an American Champion. He had multiple Best in Shows. He was Canada's number 10 of all breeds, he won an award of Merit at Westminster dog show and at the American Old English Sheepdog National Specialty, last but not least being a wonderful pet and breed ambassador. He loved going to the hospital and visiting kids to do his tricks.
Sweet is the word to best describe Lyric! In the show ring she won Old English Sheepdog Specialties and Best In Show. She was a super momma loving her babies. Lyric was a joy to live with, her favorite was cuddles on the couch.
How do you describe a soul mate? Falco was that for Uwe! He was an old soul and these two had a connection that is once in a lifetime. Yes, Falco was also a show dog completing both his American and Canadian Championship, but his heart was with Uwe.
Where to begin with Nani? As a breeder Nani was all I could hope for as a show dog and friend. Nani finished both her Canadian and American Championships quickly. She set the record for Best in Shows as an Old English Sheepdog (previously set by her uncle Comet). Nani won the American Old English Sheepdog National in 2015, the highest honour we as breeders strive for in North America. She went on to become the number 3 dog of all breeds in 2016 in Canada and the number 1 female. Nani also won the breed and owner handled group 3 at the prestigious Royal Canine Show in Orlando. Nani produced 3 puppies in two litters-all becoming Canadian Champions. Nani spent her retirement hanging out at home, traveling to our friends farm and enjoying life.
Dudley was Nani's brother. He was owned by Fiona and Robert Zammit, Kerry and John Mclean from Sydney Australia. Our hearts were all broken when Dudley went to Australia and shortly after coming out of quarantine he passed away. With him he took a piece of all of our hearts.
Stevie was Nani's first baby, a singleton puppy. Stevie became a Canadian Champion and excelled in the rally obedience ring.
Marshall is Nani's son from a litter of two, who broke all of her records for Best In Shows by an Old English Sheepdog in Canada. Marshall also was in a Hallmark movie with his half sister Stevie.
Ildi is owned by Theresa and Travis McCracken in Calgary, who agreed to let me show her and use her for breeding. Ildi tolerated a few shows, but it was not her favorite thing to do (She did obtain her Canadian Championship). She, like all the other Tumbleweed females, has all of her health clearances. Ildi was meant to be a momma, she loves her babies and had two beautiful litters. We are grateful always to Theresa and Travis for letting her come back to us. She now enjoys her world with camping, walks, playing and hanging out on the couch or any chair watching the world. Being a truly Canadian Sheepdog she loves to eat ice cubes...
Milly is the girl we kept from Ildiko's first litter. She is sweet, calm and loving. Milly went to a few shows, but it wasn't her thing. She loves to run at the farm, be a house dog and has had her first litter.
Well, I guess it serves us right to name a puppy Big Bang!! Emmy has a zest for life... Everything she does is at full speed, she loves everyone and everything. She and Milly are best friends as they lay together, clean each other and love each other..
